Question of the Week: Do You Spotify?

Are you on Spotify? Do you want to know what Spotify is? Do you think we can use Spotify to help promote Kris? If you answered 'Yes' to any of those questions, then this is the Question of the Week for you!

That's right - Spotify is like your own on-demand jukebox. Find any music you want, whenever you want it. Make your own playlists, share them with other listeners, and check out what they're listening to!

How Do I Get Started?

To start, you either need to get an invitation for the free service or sign up for the paid service. Check out one of the links below to request an invitation:

Once you receive your invitation email, go to the Spotify website to enter your invitation code, set up your account, and download the Spotify program to your computer.

Once you're up and running, add find your friends by searching in the Spotify search field. Just enter spotify:user:username to find them!

Ok, I'm Up And Running. Now What?

Share your user name here! Check out some new music and make some playlists. Got a question? Post it here and maybe your fellow Little Pawns can help.

Don't Forget to Scrobble!

Connect your Spotify and Last.fm accounts right within the Spotify application. Go to Edit>Preferences and select the checkbox to scrobble to last.fm. Enter your last.fm username and password, and you're good to go! If you don't have a Last.fm account, check out our series of posts on the topic. Scrobbling your plays to last.fm can help artists like Kris get some notice from the service and new listeners!

Spotify did tweet it's a bug and they are working on it (by the way, you can follow them @Spotify and I also recommend following @lastfm too - both seem to be good about tweeting when something's up with their programs).

Comment by Kathy T on August 25, 2011 at 5:38am: Ginny - if you have any specific questions, throw them out here and we'll see what we can come up with :) I've been running into that 'Can't play current track' error a lot lately when listening at work. Spotify says that they're working on it, so that's good. Hopefully they'll fix it soon!

I'll try to remember to do that more. To do it, right click on track, select share and then pick twitter or facebook and compose message.

Like Brenda said, I try to share a Kris song or album link now and then on twitter - good to keep those circulating - and of course the last.fm scrobbling ability is great for Kris as well.

And I think the last.fm scrobbling in spotify is really great for Kris, it will give him tons more plays :)
