QotW: Kris Special! What is the first song that you listened to and cried?

As promised, here is the question that Kris suggested in his interview with Little Pawns last week: What is the first song that you listened to and cried?

If you can't remember the first, no worries - let us know which song makes you cry on a regular basis, which song do you listen to when you need a good cry, which of Kris's songs makes you cry?

And hey Kris, we want your answer too!  Bonus round, which Bruce song made you cry?

Grab a hanky and leave a comment below, then join our Thursday chat at 10:00 Eastern, we can all cry together!  ;)

I know you are going to think this question is what Kris Allen song makes you cry but these are the ones that I recollect because Kris sings with so much emotion and like he is singing it just to you. The first song that i can remember that made me cry is when I heard Red Guitar when KATA debuted on 11/17/09.  It still makes me cry since it is a story about how much Kris loves Katy.  Another one is I Need to Know!  I still cry each time I hear it which may be 2-3 times a day.  The last song is Wipe It Away from BNS.  This song gets me every time and I was even able to call into a radio interview that Kris had and asked him if he could put this on his new CD because I told him it was beautifule and it made me cry.  He laughed and said that it would have to be revamped but this was one of his favorite songs from BNS.

Oh I remembered another. One of my top 5 all time favourite songs is 'Your Song' by Elton John. It was the first popular song I ever learned to play on the piano.  I was at his concert with Billy Joel the night after he won the Oscar for Lion King and he hadn't planned on doing it but at one point he said "Any requests?" and for some reason, my voice cut through the chatter and he played it. I was actually sobbing by the end of it. I just felt like he was playing it for me.

Music doesn't usually make me cry but a few years ago I finally got to see Paul McCartney in concert. I don't remember which songs did but more than one of them had me in tears. I don't know if it was the songs themselves or just the experience of finally hearing one of my musical heroes but I'll never forget that night.

I am a sucker for sappy piano-driven love songs.  One of my all-time favorite movies is Somewhere In Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.  The first time I heard the theme song I immediately looked for the sheet music and learned to play it on the piano until my fingers were numb!  The melody is so hauntingly beautiful!  It doesn't have official lyrics but I later found on YT that various artists had added their own words to the melody and, needless to say, I ended up loving the song even more.

This may be one of the weirdest ( is that a word?)answers, but it was actually- The National Anthem when I was about 6 or  7 (or maybe younger). My Dad was a WWI veteran and an extremely patriotic guy.  I asked him to explain to me what the song was about.  We also watched and went to alot of sporting events, so, by the time I was 6 or 7, I had already heard the song alot.

"Somewhere My Love", from the movie Doctor Zhivago. Not because of the film, but because it reminds me of my mom.

I can't remember the first song that made me cry, but here are a few that do it to me pretty much every time I hear them:

1.  Lene Marlin's "A Place Nearby" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVF6VDT5y8Q)

2.  David Cook's "Permanent"

3.  Amy Grant's "Beautiful"
