Weekly Mission: Kris Allen Promo is Alright With Me!

So as you know, Kris and the Kris Allen Band gave us all an early “Krismas” present with their amazing Alright With Me (A Thank You to the Fans) video. I know we’ve all watched the heck out of that 3 minutes, 11 seconds of music video perfection but we’re huge Kris fans.

In the coming weeks, we want to capitalize on all the positive momentum Kris has been building with his recent L.A. promo. I know many of you have already added a link to the video to your facebook pages and have tweeted different people, suggesting they take a look but now let’s tackle this Little Pawns style…

The mission for the next two weeks is to get Kris’s AWM video watched by as many important industry-related people as possible, in the hopes that by generating buzz, AWM will gain even more spins and become the hit single we all know it has the potential to be.

If you haven’t already, add the link to the video to your facebook page, tweet EW, VH1, MTV, your local radio station while requesting they spin AWM, contact any music blog or magazine twitter. Kris has concerts coming up in CT, FL and CA – tweet those venues’ twitters the link and ask them to retweet to their followers. It’s good publicity for their event as well as for Kris.

If you can think of anywhere else to tweet or contact with the link, post your suggestions in a comment below. Also, let us know of any successes you have.

It would be nice to know what the plans are for AWM from Jive. I would love to see AWM somehow make top 40. I think that would give it some traction with radio stations. I will keep requesting. I appreciate everybody's upbeat attitude.

I noticed that AWM had an increase of 12 spins. The first since it started decreasing January 10th. Maybe the new album will help it.

In the last couple of days it became clear that AWM has peaked :(. Did Jive gave you an explanation why they didn’t sent AWM to adds and didn't pushed it although it made it so close to the top 50? it is so annoying that they didn't gave AWM a fair chance and imo missed on a big hit.

Yeah, now that we have someone to ask, I'd be really curious to know if it was Kris' decision to not invest money in a real push.

I think that Jive told Kris that they would be willing to release AWM as a single, but that they would not be able to promote it or give it an adds date. Kris wanting a song getting airplay while he was trying to put together his next album, took them up on the deal. That is why a friend shot a video for the band and he was doing interviews with radio stations. He was hoping AWM would take on a life of its own. Of course, I am only speculating.

Hi Guys,

I've been having computer issues so I was just catching up on this thread. I know that we've received a few questions and comments asking if it's still worthwhile to promote AWM. Frankly, we're here to promote kris - so I guess the official answer is "Of course!" Any effort we make is a good effort. We don't know (and aren't likely to) know the label's official plans for the single, so all we can really do at this point is continue on the avenues open to us. I know it's dull to call radio stations and that it must seem like they all know our voices by now. But hopefully soon we'll have new and exciting music and shows to look forward to and promote. So Hang In There! I know Kris appreciates our efforts! Showing the radio stations that there is still demand and interest for the song is really important!

It is interesting to me that The Truth is increasing in spins - last week had the highest number of spins since November, although AWM is still outspinning it. Still - it might not hurt to request TT occasionally. At least the stations can't say they don't have it! It's a good "winter" song.

I was noticing that about TT too. They are tiny increases, but at least it is not decreasing. I feel like AWM might fall below TT. There certainly is no law against requesting TT.

You know what is strange, the more I & other purple team people requested AWM from the Fredericksburg, VA station, the more they played TT in January! (They were the only DMV station that ever spun it). It's almost like they wanted a Kris song to play to answer my requests.

That station (WBQB) is funny anyway, they tweet every song they play. They were the first to play LLWD and still spin it at least once a day. If only they were monitored.
