Little Pawns

Daniel linked me to a vid he did of his bb nephew dancing to AWM and had the excellent idea of using that type of thing to spread AWM to a wider audience. OMG if everyone took footage of little kids dancing to AWM and then we cobbled together a montage vid of it...

The internet LOVES dancing babies. Babies love AWM. This is a scientific fact. Don't question it.

What do you guys think?

Oh yeah, Kathy wrote this idea for an Alright With Me video contest. Let me copy and paste it here:

The Challenge:
1. Create your own video set to Alright With Me, using whatever subject inspires you and fits the spirit of the song. The song can be downloaded here: (link to iTunes)
2. Upload your video to YouTube. Be sure that the description of your video includes the following:
a. A brief explanation of why you chose your subject and how it fits the song
b. The link to get the song on iTunes.
3. Send an email to Little Pawns with the subject “Alright With Me Video Contest”. Include your name and a link to your video on YouTube. All emails must be received by (entry deadline)
4. Promote, promote, promote! The more views your video gets, the better (see below).

Scoring:
1. Your video will be reviewed by judges and awarded points for creativity, technical skill, and thematic accuracy.
2. Your video will be awarded points based on the number of views it receives by (end date of contest)
3. Bonus points will be awarded if your video earns any YouTube honors.
4. The top 5 videos will advance to the finals, where the winner will be chosen by (Kris? Kris and Band? Fan vote?)

Prizes:
All 5 finalists will win (KA merch? iTunes gift card? Call from Kris?). The winning video will win (something bigger – maybe not Kris-related, so as to broaden the entry pool?)

Just a few things to think about.
Oh wow starr, were you guys emailing about this? This is awesome.
This song makes me happy and I can picture it being used for so many things... my team wins the World Series? It's Alright With Me! My cute niece/nephew breaks out into dance? It's Alright With Me!

Seriously.... I saw what Mer did with the AlrightWithMoo birthday project video. Get more people to put together awesome videos, link their friend... as Kris said, it's infectious (in the best possible way, of course - no ointment needed).
I love this Idea. I also love the one by Elle as well, because really who didn't see the video of the baby dancing to Single Ladies? We could definitely figure out way to do this for AWM. What about a flash mob?

Oh god this would be so awesome. We do have to take into consideration, though, whether a video like this could possibly interfere with the official video for "Alright With Me". Kris did mention in his interview with Jim recently that they were thinking of making a video for AWM, so we might want to hold off on viral videos like these first until Kris's official video is done. After it's been released, we can make our own spin-offs and take it from there to get more hits for the video.
I agree... we can make adding a link to the official video part of the requirements. And if we wait til after an official one is released (maybe wait a week or 2?) we can intro the contest with: Go watch this awesome video, now make one of your own! Once we see the real video, we might be able to tweak the requirements or whatever to really maximize support and hits for the official video.
I love the idea of a viral video contest. I also love videos of babies laughing and dancing. I think if someone wants to make a video or montage of their kids, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandkids, cousins, etc. laughing and/or dancing around to AWM, I don't see how that could hurt. Something like that is unlikely to be competing with Kris's official video, should he get one. But, yeah, definitely include the iTunes download link for the song.
Babies!

But really tho, kids do love the song. I play it all the time at work (daycare/aftercare) and the kids will legit rock out. The video contest doesn't have to be specific, but this kind of shit goes viral all the time.

Are we going to do this now or are we going to hop on some sort of bandwagon when the actual video comes out? A video recreation contest (or something like that) could also help to promote the actual video and then the song, etc. Idk if that makes the guidelines too strict or whatever, but it's a thought :)
I think we should wait to do anything formal contest-wise until we (hopefully) learn more about the video plans. If it's coming out reasonably soon, I think we should piggyback the contest on it to push momentum.

If there won't be a video or it will be a while (I hope this isn't the case), then I say we do the video contest to fill the void.

That said, if in the meantime a few members want to tinker around with a couple entertaining videos just for the fun of it, maybe we could use it in some facebook and twitter promo - asking people to embed them or tweet links.
Ahh I think I have a viceo of Addison and joey dancing to AWM on my old phone. I'll see if I can find it!
This is such an awesome idea! Awhile back, I recorded my little sister singing and dancing to AWM and I uploaded onto Youtube (just for the hell of it). It's her favorite Kris song. If this idea happens (hoping there would be a AWM music video), then count me in! (I'll make a new video, tho.) :DDD
Also, in the mean time, most of y'all have concert videos and other Kris-made videos already right? For me, I thought since I have all this concert video & etc. on YouTube, I might as well add a link to Kris's album on iTunes.

Like I went to most of my videos and added a line something like, "You can get Kris Allen's debut album on iTunes here: http://bit.ly/kadebut." So if you want to, you can add a link to his album to some of your Kris vids.

I don't know how often people check YouTube descriptions, but you never know someone checking out your video might be impressed by him (or fall for him) enough to consider buying his album by just clicking.

I was sorta playing with the idea of making another video after I kinda enjoyed making my LLWD anniversary one. Didn't which song to do, until AWM was announced. I didn't plan to make a viral-worthy type video. It was just for fun. We'll see...life is interesting.
