Valparaiso University - Valparaiso, IN [November 6, 2010]

There's still plenty of time to promote this show! Does anyone live in the area who can see if the university can promote Kris somehow, may it be through their college radio station or maybe this time we can make flyers of our own?

More info on the show here and tickets here.

Im going to be printing up a bunch of the flyers and spending the day in Valpo tomorrow. Can someone PM me the bar name and the owner's name so that I can stop by there and give him some.
Hey Nick, I made a full sheet version of the flyer. Only if you want to use it. I uploaded it, but waiting for Starr to approve the upload. Are you printing today?

I will be printing them up tomorrow. Not sure what flyer I am going to use yet, as there are two more currently being made. Will decide in the morning and then head out to valpo with them.
Okay, no worries :) It's up if you need it.

Nick I called Jill's friend trying to get the bar owners name but she didn't answer. I'll try again in the morning.
Pretty sure the name of the bar is The Franklin House. That's the one that was founded in 1857.

Yep, shosh, that's the bar... i messaged jennie again to see what's up....
NICK, that is so awesome you are going there tomorrow \o/
Nick, I dmmd you some info from the LP twitter (we don't follow eachother yet lol) i talked to Jill's friend Jennie ln and she gave me the bar owner's cell and also she'd like to help you hang posters today if you are free to meet up with her. She really wanted to make sure the places she suggested to kris in the tour book had posters...so if he went there he'd see them ;)
So heres a little recap of my day of valpo promotion for anyone that is interested.

Started by going to Kinkos and picked up supplies + made 100 copies of the flyer that @Mer89 made (small handout size). Took about an hour to get to Valpo, and I figured that the best first stop would be The Franklin House as it was where contact was already established. As I pulled up to the building, I received a DM from Elle about Jennie (Jill's friend) offering to help out in anyway that she could. When she got there, we handed them a bunch of the flyers for them to pass out as they seem really committed to promo'ing this. The staff there was really really friendly and all seemed to be on board with the idea. Also, the local drunks were awesome. We checked their jukebox and they have all of Kris' singles including AWM and NoBos. Saturday night is karaoke night. In other words, this is where the after party is going to be. BE THERE!

Me, Jennie, and her daughter all hop in my car and head to the university. We kind of stumble across the building where the concert is going to be and its pretty nice. As you go up the stairs, there is a big part of the wall advertising the show. Also, we found a more professional looking poster that was being hung up in the student lounge. We borrowed it and went and made 30 copies from their office room (all 11x17 size). It seemed like the actual college was doing a good job of promoting it to the students, so we figured it would be best to focus on the locals that might not be students.

We took the 30 posters and pretty much hit up every bar, grocery store, wing joint, pizza place, and coffee house we could find. In the end, we got about 20 posters hung up, with the last 10 going to several different places that werent available at the time (such as Jennie's daughter's school, the library). We quickly learned that the larger the company, the less likely it was that we could do anything. Local stuff was key and the managers from those places definitely gave us the best reception.

Big huge thank you to Jennie for helping me along today, as I would have been pretty lost without her. Heres the pics of the different flyers we used.

Nick: That is awesome! And I can't believe that bar had "Alright With Me" in their jukebox! Did the owner happen to mention where he already had tickets to the show? I hope Elle was able to talk with the owner as well about getting an "after-show party" thing going there after the Valpo gig. It would definitely be great if we returned the favor by making sure people stop by Franklin House after the show.

Great job! Others can definitely use this as a guideline for future promo. And make sure to thank Jill's friend for us for helping out :)
Sounds like you had an awesome
And productive day! So glad you were able to hook up with jennie and that the bar guy was so awesome. I want to call him and see if we can have an official after party there... Maybe we could print out little flyers for his bar and then hand them out to fans at the concert!

Oh Nick, this all makes me so happy. I'm so glad you got to meet Jennie, she is such a great girl. It sounds like you both an amazingly successful day!! So cool they let you take LARGE posters and copy them in their union (or whatever)... This all came together so wonderful... Thank you Elle, Nick, Jennie, and Mr. Jason the barman!!! and a little pawns after party.... very cool.
