Little Pawns

Hey everyone!  Hopefully this post will answer some of your questions about what this project is and how it will work.  Feel free to post any questions in this discussion and we will get them answered and update the main page to include more specific information about how this is going to work.

What is the purpose of this project?

What this website will eventually go onto accomplish is unforeseeable, but for now there is one goal that all Kris fans can agree upon.  Getting Alright With Me to be a hit on radio.  Even if you are part of the 1% of Kris fans that doesn't care too much for the song, you'd be blind not to see the excitement from Kris and everyone around him about the release of this song as a single.  Lets match that excitement and do whatever we can to push this song towards being the hit it should be!

What is the purpose of the teams?

People working as a team are going to be able to accomplish so much more then people working as individuals.  By splitting everyone up into teams, we are looking to encourage people from the same area to share information with each other.  Get in contact with your local DJ and he said they are going to play AWM in an hour?  Post in the forums so that everyone can tune in and supply feedback to the station.

So this is a competition?

YES!  Every Sunday night, we will have a spinja update posted to this website describing AWM's progress on radio in regards to each zone.  Points will be assigned based on total number of spins for that region for that week, as well as points for most growth within that week.  Each week, a winning team is announced.  Certain milestones will be set (such as reaching top 10 on HAC) and if your team is the winning team within that week, you will win a prize!!!  Just don't count on us giving out cars, cause I don't think Oprah is a Kris fan.

I'M IN!  Can I pick my team now?

NO!  Your team is dependent on where you live.  Enjoy meeting new people and remember the whole reason of this project is to promote Kris and to come together as fans. The below map will show you which team you are on (this was split up based on monitored HAC stations)...

Washington D.C. is part of the Purple Team.  Also, all international fans are part of the Gray Team.  You are the gray area, as there is no easy way for us to track your progress with pushing AWM to radio.

BRB.  Spamming all radio stations in every surrounding state!

Not so fast.  There are few guidelines.

  • DO NOT SPAM RADIO STATIONS.  Spamming your local station with requests nonstop is just going to piss them off.  Use multiple lines of communication and spread it out. Always use the appropriate channels.  Do not anger employees of stations or it will only work against you, your team, and this project as whole.
  • DO NOT REQUEST FROM A STATION YOU DO NOT LISTEN TO.  One quick way of building a bad reputation is by requesting a song from a station that is three states over.  The purpose of the teams is to share information, but you should be staying in your own immediate area for your requests.
  • BE POLITE AND COURTEOUS.  Be aware that you are requesting from people, and if you give them any excuse to not play the song by being rude or overbearing, they won't play it.
  • BE CREATIVE.  I wish I could tell everyone exactly what to do, but every station is going to be different and some will be harder to crack than others.  Some are going to take some creative thinking to get through to.

Okay.  What now?

Spread the word!  Get involved!  Use the forums!  Request from your local stations!  Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Yay Red Team!!!!!!!

I live in the San Francisco area and the local HAC station I listen to is Alice 97.3 (KLLC). Besides the morning show (who are plain snarky in general anyway), the DJs here seem to like Kris. They said some really good things about TT (lol) when it first came out, in fact they were one of the first to play him I think, but it just didn't get a good enough listener response maybe. The two DJs who seem to especially like him are Marcus D and Jayn (she's interviewed him a couple times and gushed like a little school girl :D). So maybe requesting the song while they spin will be strategic? Go ahead and request other times too, but just throwing this out there.

Kris-positive DJs:
Marcus Dee spins weekdays from 3-7pm (rush hour baby!)
Jayn spins weekdays from 10am-3pm

Text number:
25423 (spells Alice)

Number:
800.400.3697 (FM97)

Twitter: @AliceRadio
Jayn has her own twitter too (not personal): @jaynatalice

This is awesome! And yay, we're part of the same team, Kathleen! Do you mind moving this information to the Red Team section so everyone who signs up for our team has this info? Thanks! :)
I love this team concept because I am super competitive. Too bad for the purple team that I am in Washington DC which is a tough nut to crack. I am going to edit this now and move info into the purple section.
Does anyone have a similar breakdown of Los Angeles area Kris-friendly/unfriendly DJs/Radio stations? I confess that I don't listen to much radio as I don't have a car, but I'm willing to learn the ropes from a proper spinja or two.

Welcome, Alice! The Red Team thread should have that info :)
Ahhh sorry I see that now. Maybe you could put links or a note to this in Daniel's post directing everyone to their proper forums? I was confused and thought that this post was the place to go for organization.

Awesome job pulling this together! :)
Yeah we will get it a little more organized tonight.  So far all of the information in here is perfect and is just what we had in mind.  Just need to get it to the right thread.

Annnd now I see I got your name wrong. Sorry again! :)
OH, NO. I JUST REALIZED ILLINOIS AND INDIANA ARE ON DIFFERENT TEAMS. Well, there goes the one monitored station I'm near.
Actually, Indiana and Illinois are on the same team.  It is an issue with the map.  We'll get that fixed later tonight.

Purple team whaaaaaat :D

Anyone else? Bueller? Bueller?

If anyone is, just a heads up on stations: I'm from central NJ, so I've been focusing on stations around here, New York, and Philly. New York is a really tough market to break into because they just kind of play what they want to play and fuck you if you want to hear something different. Z100 is kind of a joke to try and request on, but I've been trying anyway (a few times a week, again, not overwhelming or annoying) just to get the word out there about the song. It certainly can't hurt to express interest and show the stations that people want to hear the song.

Kris recently went over to Fresh 102.7 and released the song there, so I've been requesting to them a bit, as well as 95.5 PLJ and 94.5 PST. Does anyone else around here have suggestions for stations to request from around here (Obviously not anything out of the area, just stations I may never had heard of/not been aware that I was listening to)?
Let's hear it for Team Canada...!

No?

Well, as it happens, I'm going to be spending November in Wisconsin, so it looks like I'll be part of the Green Team for that time. Sweeeet.
