Little Pawns

Hello and Welcome to the Red Team!!!

If you are located in one of the following states / areas, you are considered a member of the red team...

Alaska
California
Oregon
Washington (state)

Remember that the whole concept of this project is to work together as a team.  Get to know the radio stations in your area, and get to know other Kris fans within that area.  Help each other promote Kris in any way you can.

Your Regional Team Captains are snapcracklypop and Amy H. Please direct any of your questions or concerns about team goals to them. If you have any general radio promo questions that you need answered, Nick or taks would be the best ones to contact.

Aimee and Jorge-
Do either of you think there is any benefit in putting up posters in SF or surrounding areas a couple of days before the show? Or do you think that is too far away for people who are not hardcore fans to travel?
I don't live in the area so it would be nice to have the opinions of people who do.

Also, I agree that the age restriction narrows Kris's audience considerably--he has a lot of younger fans.
True Aimee, that's one way if anyone coming a day or two early is willing to make maybe 2 or 3 drops to post and/or leave flyers. I'm coming the day of, so that's not going to help.

That sucks about age restrictions. So it's not like someone over 21 can bring an underage person in, huh?

I think if no one can post flyers in Santa Rosa, the next best thing is Bay Area. We just have to believe there are fans or even casual ones out there who would like to see Kris - even if they aren't hardcore.

Amy, do you know if Emjay, Kathy, or anybody coming a day or two early and would do a few quick drops to anyplace like a Starbucks, Jamba Juice (just thinking of places with bulletin boards), music store, etc.

Another option Starr suggested if any of y'all have FB, people can update their status with the link of an banner image to show friends. Was going get a banner done, but I have to go to the autoshop (and was zonked last night, haha). Maybe later, but all we have now that is approved is the image of this flyer that was made and approved ahead of time.

Santa Rosa is over an hour away from SF and it's not exactly a city that people really go to, so I don't think anyone but hardcore fans would travel there. It might be different if it was a bigger city or if there's an easy way to get there by transportation but neither BART or Caltrain goes to that area.

I tweeted the radio station to ask about the age limit and they said it was because of the venue rules since it seems mostly like a bar.
I see, thank you Aimee for the info & checking it out! You are going right? Or are you under 21? I've only used the BART to go to malls or to downtown SF I think. We'll just have to rely on Mix 104.9 to promote the heck out of it through the radio & such. I might make a banner later, so if anybody wants to share with friends by just linking to it on FB status. We'll see :P :)

Don't know if I mentioned this earlier, but the venue said they probably sold about 2/3. If correct, that's 133 or at least over 100 to go (out of 400). Tho tickets are $15, it's $20 at the door. Hopefully some people will come at the last minute.
Yup, I'm going but there were a few people that couldn't go just because of the age limit which sucks for them :(
Thanks, Aimee! That was my gut feeling too. I know in So Cal, advertising outside of a 30 mile radius doesn't really do any good so I was curious if it was the same in Nor Cal. Makes sense about the public transportation.

Snap, thanks for making the banners--hopefully through our online promotions and the extensive promo the radio station has been doing, we'll get close to a sell out.

With that said, if there are any Little Pawns who live close to Santa Rosa who have time and want to poster, please let us know!

Thanks :)
Yes please! Amy H: With that said, if there are any Little Pawns who live close to Santa Rosa who have time and want to poster, please let us know

From Starr's suggestion, I made a promo banner so you can share by updating Facebook statuses to share with your North Californian friends on Facebook about the Mix 104.9's Chris-Mix show in Santa Rosa. Since it's tough to get people near there to post flyers. It's Lizzie approved, though not up on the site yet.

Russian River Brewery in SR is an extremely popular place. Maybe we could give them flyers and tell them that we'd hang out there after the show with our crew, sort of like what happened for Valpo? Thoughts?

Thanks Scooter for idea :) Hm...from what I remember from the Valpo discussion (I wasn't there, but read some of the planning at the Valpo forum before) that two people went to that bar to post or pass out flyers, & realize their jukebox plays AWM. I guess they talked to the bar guy and he was gung-ho about the flyers/posters and the idea of fans coming by and even possibly Kris might come (cuz of the Tour book). That's as far as I remember from the discussion, but I think Shosh went to that show and to the bar?

If early Santa Rosa show peeps are in the city, and willing to drop by to post or leave flyers that'd be great. I don't know much how much more it will draw people to the show, but right now we have all day Friday (if posted in the morning) & all day Saturday before the show. If it's easy and not that much trouble, I say go for it! If someone is in San Francisco & drives up an hour & back an hour just to put flyers (and drive back up later to go to the show), then I say forget it. Don't want to put anybody through that.

As far as promises of being there after the show, I don't know what people plan on doing after the show. But we can promise that we'll definitely consider coming there if peeps are staying up to hang out after the show (and if we aren't already hanging out at the Last Day Saloon which I think is bar/restaurant?). I noticed on the Google map, that this venue is near their mall 2 or 3 blocks away - so that's another place to try to put flyers.

What do you, Amy, Aimee, Shosh, or anybody else coming think? At this point, if no one can come at all...then it's just one those things we need to plan ahead of time the next time around :P :)

The Buzz (KRSK) played AWM today. I mentioned to Sheryl Stewart on FB about being happy about that & she was glad that I liked hearing it.

Though AWM does not appear to be added to The Buzz, it's still cool that listeners at that time got to hear AWM at least. Thanks for reporting that :)
