I compiled a list of the monitored HAC stations in the various regions because I think these are the stations which efforts should generally be focused towards. As far as I can tell, "Alright With Me" has only been serviced to HAC stations so far. So while occasionally the line "we don't have that song yet" is an outright lie to get you off a station's case, CHR (Pop/Top 40) stations saying this about AWM might actually be telling the truth. This doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't ask stations in other formats (I mean, LLWD got play on AC, Hot AC, Alt. Rock, Talk Radio, Pop, Christian AC, Christian CHR, Rhythmic...) but if you listen to both an HAC station and a Pop station, try to tailor the majority of your efforts towards the HAC station.

What does it mean for a station to be monitored?
Mediabase is the company that collects radio data and compiles the charts we pull the majority of our information from. (Billboard compiles their charts through Nielsen BDS/SoundScan and their general chart information is much less available to us.) Mediabase does not track every spin from every radio station - instead they have a panel of stations that make up the various format charts. The stations in this panel are referred to as "monitored" stations. Basically, only spins from monitored stations count towards the charts.

Again, this doesn't mean you should only focus on monitored stations. All spins result in people hearing the song which leads to greater exposure and sales, so every station is worth it. Just that if you are looking for specific stations, this list will be a good place to start.

Here's a list of the Monitored HAC stations in the Yellow Team region:

Florida

Georgia

Kentucky

Michigan

North Carolina

Hi - I am in Michigan and am an avid listener of 96.3. I am also on their music advisory panel. I heard the General Manager of the station talking about LLWD once...he is (was) a big fan and last time I checked their music wall, they are still playing it about 3 times a day. (I hear it once a day or so). I also met one of the new DJs at an event and e-mailed her afterwards. I talked about Kris Allen and what he was like...great role model, great voice, great band, humanitarian, etc and said it would be great if she would play his new single, AWM. She (Rebecca) answered that she would suggest to WDVD that they play his new song. This tactic worked great...to e-mail the DJ....so I thought others could use this idea. I haven't heard the song yet...and I have requested, but not everyday...try to do it a few times a week to different DJs and the GM. Some of the DJs have had Kris on their show, so I try and request Kris' songs with them also.
I'm really surprised that Atlanta doesn't have a monitored station.

WSTR is monitored as a pop station, but its playlist is pretty much identical to that of a HAC station. They're also very big fans of Kris, so I'm pretty sure they'll add and spin AWM. Our other pop station, WWWQ, is fairly HAC-oriented as well, though they do have some rhythmic-leaning songs on their playlist. If both stations add and spin AWM it'll do great things for the song's pop ranking.
Hi. This is AnaYo, @sintoy69 on Twitter. I live in Tampa, FL. I just saw this list, and i wanted to thank you for putting it together for us Kris fans. I was on a roll with MIX 105.1 Orlando, requesting them to play TT when it first came out, and around the time Kris had a headlining show in Orlando back in August. I was so bummed when all our efforts to push TT went down the drain.
I am surprised that there is no info available for GA. I know for a fact that Star94 plays 3 of Kris' songs quite often: LLWD, TT, and Heartless from his cd. Although i live in FL, i still listen to STAR bcz i can count on them to play a Kris Allen song.
But i still request AWM almost everyday on MIX105.1. I tweet them most of the time, and i send an email request other times. I have yet to hear the song played on the radio, though. And, like a great follower and fan, i will keep requesting AWM.
How can you tell if a station is monitored or not? WNIC 100.3 just flipped from AC to HAC today and I'll start focusing them as well as WDVD 96.3 regardless, but it would be nice to know that they are a monitored station.
