ETA: This task might be a bit confronting for some of us - introducing ourselves to random strangers on Last.fm... It's not for everyone :-) But please don't be discouraged! If you don't feel like this task is for you, there are more to come :-)
As a Last.fm user, I've had random people ask to be my friend - I've never said 'no' & most of the peeps who've asked me have had similar music tastes, so I've taken the opportunity to get to see who else they listen to. I've found a couple of really good artists that way.
Check back later this week, there'll be another task soon :D
_______________________________________________________________
A lot of people have already made friends when they signed up or started using Last.fm again. This is really cool, because we can show that Kris already has a fan base. But the idea here is to connect up with people who don't know about Kris already!
To do this task, you will need to go to the website on the ‘net.
Go to www.last.fm and login in if you haven’t already.
Click on the “neighbours” tab on the left hand side of the screen.
You can see that I have 50 ‘neighbours’ who have similar music tastes to me. I can browse their pages & decide if I want to “Add as friend”.
Once you’ve clicked “add as a friend” a message goes to them, and they will accept or reject the request.
Once you’ve established your friends, they will show up on the “Friends” tab on the left hand side of the screen.
You can “see what your friends are listening to” or “have a look at their loved tracks” - and of course, they can see yours too.
You can share your favourite tracks with them, “send a message” (private like an email), or “leave a shout” (a public message that shows up on their page). These are covered in the next task...
On to Task Four - Loved Tracks

Most of my friends on Last.fm have been people I know from other places like LJ, real life & now LP. Although I have had random requests from people who I didn't know, and I've checked out their lists & usually friended them because we have artists in common.
Even if each of us does one or two new people (if everyone's comfortable with that) then we'll have doubled the number of people who have the opportunity to listen Kris with this task. And there's always tagging & a the future tasks to raise his profile, so no harm done if this task isn't for everyone :-)
Permalink Reply by dy77 on March 9, 2011 at 5:32am I have had the best time making friends with the neighbours. I thought I was the only person in the world whose top three artists are Kris, Keith and Kenny Chesney but apparently we have a neighbourhood and it is very friendly! I wonder what we should call this 'hood. :D
Anyway, I wanted to encourage everyone to do this task - you are not a creeper, as these people have signed up for a social media website that is for sharing and exploring music. Really the worst that can happen is they don't accept your friend request. If you want to feel a little bit more comfortable - look at my friends, many if not all of them are Little Pawns, and they seem to have good taste in music, so go ahead and friend them. For the ones you don't know, to avoid that creeper feeling, it is nice to put a little note on your friend request - mine went something like "Hi - I saw you on my neighbors list and I simply must befriend anyone who loves Kris and Keith and Kenny as much as I do."

Permalink Reply by KrisAllenHK.com on September 8, 2011 at 7:27am I have found that making friends on last.fm is very useful. I've had a Kris fan tell me they listened to Kris' SMAYA again because of the Kris banner I put on my last.fm profile page. That comment really made my day because that particular live acoustic performance is exceptionally gorgeous and needs to be shared with the world :)
Some people also give the live recordings of Kris' new songs linked on my profile page a listen, which is a very good thing because besides converting new fans, we can also introduce new music to casual fans who don't follow Kris obsessively very closely.
I found the majority of my friends through Kris' listeners page here http://www.last.fm/music/Kris+Allen/+listeners
I also like adding people who tag Kris and/or his tracks. The fact that they bother tagging means that they are somewhat serious about Kris/Kris' music/music in general. You can find them by looking at the Recent Activity section of Kris' profile page http://www.last.fm/music/Kris+Allen
If y'all wanna add me, here I am! :D http://www.last.fm/user/KrisAllenHK
