"I WANT AN ADDS DATE!"
Yes. We all do. However, I feel like there has been an epidemic spreading through Kris fans and it is mostly in regards to this adds date. Going to use this thread to clear some things up that people might not be aware of.

To people outside of radio, the adds date is your signal that the record label is pushing the song to radio. The date itself doesnt matter, its the promo behind that date that is impacting radio's decision to add it or not. When a radio station goes to add a song, they are not doing it by logging into FMQB and checking which songs have an adds date that day. They are doing it based on the loads of promo they have been recently receiving. There is a lot of time and money that goes into the radio promo that we never see. You are not suppose to ever see any of that promo, and that is intentional, as labels want it to look like the radio stations came onto the song on their own.

Correct. Without an adds date, you have to be a MAJOR staple on radio to do anything (think Gaga and thats about it). The good news is that there is nothing saying that AWM will never get an adds date. Just because it is not happening immediately does not mean that it is not happening. What we do know is that 2 radio shows have already been scheduled in december. These would be of no benefit at all if AWM wasnt going to be pushed.
"So right now, AWM has no adds date and wont do well on radio without one. I'm not going to bother requesting until it gets one."
This is actually the opposite stance that you want to have. Right now is the absolute most crucial time to request and do whatever you can to get the song some radio play. Jive is testing the waters and wanting to see what kind of reaction the song is getting. Stuff like Radio Sophie, a top 20 market, playing it in regular rotation right off the bat is AMAZING and is exactly the kind of thing that Jive would use in its marketing promo to other radio stations.
"I went to request AWM from my local station and the DJ said they didn't have it."
DJ's are personalities and thats what they are hired for. When dealing with major stations, the DJ is almost never the PD (Program Director) and doesnt really have any kind of final say in what is played on the station. If you are using the correct channels and requesting where the station is telling you to request from, this information will get passed along to the PD at some point, but dont expect the DJ to know what AWM's current status is with the station. Get the request in, and be as friendly as possible to whoever you are talking to. Remember that EVERY SINGLE SPIN is HUGE right now, and being able to make the smallest dent is what will get AWM off the ground.

No. Spamming Jive / 19 to give AWM an adds date accomplishes nothing and there are many other things you could be doing. If AWM dies out and Kris goes on hiatus for a year not doing anything, then w/e, feel free to hate-spam them. Don't waste your time doing it now when plenty of other things can be done such as show promo, merch / logo design, radio requests, poll spamming, commenting on articles / polls. I understand the frustration that people are feeling, but it is best to use this to drive yourself towards getting more active.

The adds date is the date that the label sets so that those inside radio (PDs, MDs) know what date the label has targeted for impact. They may not check FMBQ or All Access but the label's promo dept makes sure they (pd's, md's) know the date their song is going for adds. -

Exactly. No matter what anyone wants to think, Jive lost money on The Truth. They are not going to jump into the same level of promo without knowing that the song will work. We know that it will, so lets do what we can to show them that. -

Okay, thanks. I think I see what you're saying. But then why not go ahead and set the date? Either it's testing poorly, they aren't planning to push it due to budget reasons, or they could still set it this week. (Someone else could chime in but I think after this week we're at 4 weeks that AWM's been at radio? And after that point I don't see it getting an adds date at all.) We're also coming up on the holiday slow-down pretty soon.

This is the perfect place to discuss it and Im glad that you are asking questions.
The truth is that we can't know for sure what is going on. Our part right now is to do what we can to help break the song into wherever we can, so that Jive is encouraged to give the song a chance. There is an answer to that why, but no one here knows it, and honestly... we don't need to know it. Knowing the why shouldn't have any impact on what you are doing. -

Yea, I did a little research on adds, and it looks like it takes a while to get it all put together, and by the way Kris was talking sounds like AWM was chosen very recently before he announced it.. It was sent to radio around the 13th so it hasn't been 4 weeks yet. Also you have ONE shot at adding it, so you can't screw it up. Maybe they want some more buzz before they waste the add date?
Everyone is just paranoid because of The Truth. What happens, happens. They clearly do seem to have some faith in him or they wouldn't of bothered with #3. I think overall this single is mainly for him to have something to promote and sing while on tour the rest of the year, and to get people to come out to the shows, because that is how Kris makes money... more than it's supposed to be the biggest single ever and sell tons of copies of KATA or the single. So yea, who knows, they may not spend a ton of money on it. Also yes, they did spend a bit on The Truth, them, and Kris have to decide what is worth spending money on.
I still can't believe we go around in circles about this stuff all day ahha, it's more fun to stay excited and enjoy the shows!! We've gotten so much kick awesomeness from Kris this year to worry about this crap. -

So this means that Alright With Me is not being promoted by Jive even though they have "given" Kris another single. How can it succeed if they don't promote it???? LLWD did great and The Truth was Jive's mistake not Kris'!
